Sometimes you don’t need macros or scripts. You just need a key press every X seconds—clean, stable, and easy to stop.

Best method: a simple key presser

Pick the key, choose the interval (in milliseconds), assign a stop hotkey, start. That’s it. For most users, this is the fastest setup.

Recommended intervals (realistic + safe)

If you’re unsure, start slower. You can always speed it up later.

  • 10 seconds (10000ms): ultra safe, background-friendly
  • 3–5 seconds (3000–5000ms): safe automation pace
  • 1–2 seconds (1000–2000ms): solid and responsive
  • 250–500ms: fast tapping (risk of mistakes if window focus changes)
  • 100–250ms: very fast (use only if you understand the risk)

Make it reliable (avoid the classic fails)

  • Before pressing Start: test your Stop hotkey.
  • Close chats or sensitive apps in the background (so keys don’t go there).
  • Keep the target window focused if your tool doesn’t support targeting.
  • If inputs are ignored: run as Administrator.

Troubleshooting checklist

  • Input goes to the wrong app → focus target window; consider using a tool with window targeting.
  • Key doesn’t register → try a different key mode (scan code vs character) if available.
  • CPU spikes → your interval is too low (increase it).
  • Stop key fails → choose a stop key you never use normally (ex: F8).

If your goal is predictable repetition, a lightweight key presser is the fastest and cleanest option on Windows.
